Kids Chef is a tool that help children to learn and build up passion in cooking. The app provides various levels of recipes for target users to challenge themselves. It also highlights with award system and diary function to help our users to track their activities. Kids Chef’s primary target users include children and adults who are assist children and ensure their safety.

Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.

Caitlyn is a student who has zero experience in cooking that needs easy recipes to guide her to complete her goal.


Wilson is a student who needs exciting healthy recipes for him to challenge himself, because he most of the recipes are not easy accessing.

An audit of a few competitor’s products provided direction on gaps and opportunities to address with the Kids Chef app.

People preferred clear indications between ingredients and shopping list.

Users shared that the app saved time on finding recipes and easy to engage building culinary skills. One quote from peer feedback was that “the kids chef app make cooking stress-free, and I get to record my result all in one place.”

What I learned
